Are you getting annoyed at the new auto-play videos on your pc or laptop on Facebook. Is Facebook auto-playing of videos killing your bandwidth or costing you a fortune in mobile phone downloads?

This is how to stop auto-play on your laptop / desktop.

Access your settings > video tab and turning videos off: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=videos

 Unfortunately this setting does not mobile phones and you must go to your phone's settings to change auto-play videos in your Facebook app.

DIY Recycling - Tyre Planter

Brighten up the garden with this fabulous tyre planter!

Use old tyres as planters for your garden. You just have to cut them and they can be the perfect containers for your plants. Using a sharp tool make some holes at the bottom.

They provide good space for the growth of your plants. Fill them with potting soil and mix in some fertilizer. Plant your seeds or plants by digging small holes in the soil. Using your hands, fill in the remaining portion with soil and firm those to avoid any air packets. Water and keep in an area with good amount of sunlight.

You can grow marigolds, money plants, and any other choice of plants that don’t grow much in height. You can also paint those tyres to make them look more attractive.

Make String Easter Eggs

Dazzle your friends and family with these creative balloon treats!

Step 1: What You Will Need:

Material:

• Small water balloons
• Crochet thread/ embroidery thread/ yarn/string etc.
• Chocolate, small toys or trinkets to place inside eggs                                                                      
• Equal parts granulated sugar and water

Tools:

• Pin, fine scissors and tweezers
• Measuring cup, cooking pot, and spoon for stirring
• Optional: pump for blowing up balloons

Step 2: Making the Sugar Mixture

The thread in this instruction is stiffened with sugar.  This may not work for everyone.  If you live in a humid climate or if you have little critters around (ants) this may not be for you.  Another option would be liquid fabric starch, or glue and water.

To make the sugar mixture:

• Measure equal parts granulated sugar and water and place in a cooking pot on the stove. Best to use refined sugar,
• Bring to a boil stirring constantly.
• When sugar is completely dissolved remove from heat and allow to cool.
• Pour into a shallow container.

This mixture could be made over several days, just cover with plastic wrap and leave at room temperature.

Step 3: Egg with Yolk: The Yolk

The yolk is also made from stiffened string.

• Partially inflate a balloon so that it is a quarter (or smaller) of the size of the fully inflated balloon, knot tightly.
• Gather some yellow thread, they can be different shades.
• Cover your work surface with newspaper as this can get quite messy
• Dredge the threads through the sugar mixture and place onto the balloon.
• Cover the entire balloon with the thread, criss-crossing the surface well.
• Hang from a string (or rig up some other device) and place in a warm dry spot to dry.
• Place newspaper underneath to catch any drippings also you may need to dab the bottom of the balloon as it dries.

Step 4: Egg with Yolk: The Yolk Continued

• It should take roughly 24hr to dry.  Make sure it is completely dry before you continue, the thread should be rigid.
• Hold onto the end of the balloon and pop it with a pin.
• Gently extract the balloon, use small tweezers if necessary.

Step 5: Egg with Yolk: Egg White

Getting the yolk inside the balloon can be a bit tricky and it is important that the yolk is completely dry and the thread is rigid.

• Stretch the opening of the balloon so that it is wide enough to accommodate the yolk and gently stuff it in.
• Inflate the balloon.
• Proceed to wrap the balloon with white thread as you did in step 3.
• Hang to dry with newspaper underneath.

Step 6: Egg with Yolk: Egg White Continued

• Once the egg has dried, approximately 24hrs later.  Grab on to the end of the balloon and pop it with a pin.
• First you will need to extract the yolk from the balloon, tweezers and small scissors are helpful here.  Be careful not to damage the yolk.
• Once the yolk is out, proceed to remove the balloon from the egg.

Step 7: Chocolate Egg

These could be made with some eggs with chocolate inside or place small toys in as well, these would be great as gifts. You can also write little messages or names on craft foam and place inside the balloon.

To make these, the directions are essentially the same as the egg with yolk:

• Stretch the opening of the balloon and stuff you chocolate or item inside.  It is best to use solid chocolate (the hollow ones may get crushed) and don't use pointy toys or they will tear the balloon.
• Inflate the balloon and tie the end tightly.
• Proceed to wrap the balloon with sugared thread as in step 3
• Hang from a string  and place in a warm (not too warm or you'll melt your chocolate) dry spot to dry.
• Place newspaper underneath to catch any drippings also you may need to dab the bottom of the balloon as it dries.

Step 8: Chocolate Egg: When Dry

• Once the egg has dried, approximately 24hrs later.  Grab on to the end of the balloon and pop it with a pin.
• First you will need to extract the chocolate or other item from the balloon, tweezers and small scissors are helpful here. 
• Once the chocolate or other item is out, proceed to remove the balloon from the egg.

How To Remove Bird Poop From Concrete

This is a very easy and quick way of cleaning those bird poop stains from concrete pathways.

Bird poop, or bird droppings, is a type of organic stain. When birds poop on your concrete surface, they leave behind a stain that contains their feces as well as their food. Berries, nuts and seeds contribute toward the stain as it soaks into the porous concrete surface. By removing the stain from the surface and drawing it out of the concrete, you can successfully clean your concrete and return it to its unstained condition. Supplies and cleaning techniques safe for concrete achieve this task without causing further damage to the surface.

What do you need?

• Hose and mains water
• Liquid dish-washing detergent
• Methylated spirits
• Natural-fiber scrub brush

 Steps:

1. Hose off the concrete to remove top layer of bird droppings from the surface.
   
2. Mix up a squirt liquid of dish-washing detergent with a good splash of methylated spirits in a bucket and fill with water.
   
3. Poor the cleaning mixture onto the poop stains.
   
4. Leave for five minutes.
   
5. Use a natural-bristled scrub brush to loosen and remove remaining stain.
   
6. Hose off and that should do it - clean concrete. If not clean enough then repeat.

DIY - How to Peel a Potato in 10 Seconds

A great tip when you need to prepare for a large dinner.

Step 1 Cut the potato skin
Make a cut all around the potato, lengthwise. Try to slice only the skin, not the actual potato.

Step 2 Boil it
Put the potato in a pot of boiling water. Boil until it is soft inside

Step 3 Cool it off
Plunge the potato in ice water for 10 seconds. The surface of the potato will shrink, while the center remains hot.

Step 4 Remove the skin
Rub the potato with both hands and watch the skin fall right off.
